Cover Models – Bookface

When the internet isn’t saturating the landscape with Orwellian narratives, you have to admire how the World Wide Web lives up to its name. This time we have a three continent degrees of separation, Africa – Europe – North America. Our long-time friend ABA in South Africa (which has recently suffered terrible storm damage) drew my attention back to a Bordeaux bookstore, Librairie Mollat, in a topic we covered five years ago. For instance:

I admire this exceptionally clever example:

This time we have an official hashtag label, #bookface, and others can take part in the Bookface Challenge. Here then is another list of bookfaces, mostly new, but a few from before. Notice how the technique has evolved and become even more precise:

I've got to love the imagination:

ABA, always a step ahead, suggested another item, reminiscent of the above.

    1. They're clever and subtle at once. It would be a fun bookstore to visit. Which reminds me… I visited a mammoth bookstore. Their art book selection was extensive. Their graphic novel section alone was the size of an ordinary store.

A large part of the store was dedicated to art and artist supplies. The best part was a selection of famous art icons (featuring Gustav Klimt and Hieronymus Bosch among others) rendered into 3D. I couldn't allow myself to buy any one of them because I would have wanted it all!

That was pre-Amazon days, so I don't know if it survives or not.

  6. My apologies for the [video] problem, which worked in some browsers and not others. It should be working now, a fun moment. (For those interested, the [video] tag fully worked only in Firefox and Safari didn't like the [object] tag. I ended up going through YouTube.)

Welcome. Please feel free to comment.

Our corporate secretary is notoriously lax when it comes to comments trapped in the spam folder. It may take Velma a few days to notice, usually after digging in a bottom drawer for a packet of seamed hose, a .38, her flask, or a cigarette.

She’s also sarcastically flip-lipped, but where else can a P.I. find a gal who can wield a candlestick phone, a typewriter, and a gat all at the same time? So bear with us, we value your comment. Once she finishes her Fatima Long Gold.
