It's said they were far too self-centered for her.

The moment Rand and Ditko were mentioned in the same sentence, I thought, "But wait, didn't Spiderman say…" And all was explained.

Parents at the time were told comics were subversive, requiring the strictest censorship. Then Spiderman #1 appeared, and every one else passed in the rear view mirror. Subversive came to mean socially conscious, do the right thing.

I'm referring friend Steve and my brother Glen to this article. DC and most of the others in my era just seemed phony and cartoonish to me.

John-Pop the Clutch is great. I was at the signing here in LA a few months ago. What a line-up!I talk to Gary about his story “The Demon of the Track” in Part 2. Your story “The Starlite Drive-In” is a retro blast!

Rob-I thought a lot about your historical crime novel Such a Killing Crime when writing this. As you know I love that book. Still amazed by how you recreated 1960s Greenwich Village. One of my stories was featured alongside a story by Gary Phillips a few months ago, in an anthology called POP THE CLUTCH (edited by Eric Guignard). Gary's was one of the best stories in the book--he's a talented writer.John Floydhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04001712728130488485noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-56762374226653525672019-05-10T07:33:51.092-04:002019-05-10T07:33:51.092-04:00Good posting and excellent interview.
