The succeeded in both plot and characterization. <i>The Closer</i> introduced a thread about a ‘mole’ in the group. They pulled that off with plausibility and aplomb.<br><i><br>The Shield, The Closer</i>, and <i>Major Crimes</i> while having subplots, and managed to stave off <a href="http://www.sleuthsayers.org/2015/10/sos.html" rel="nofollow">SOS (soap opera shite)</a> that typically plagues long-running dramas as they slip into their dotage.
