My slant on that topic is worded a bit differently, but for years, I taught: Write what you know OR what you can research and learn OR a world you create in your mind. <br />The observation you share with your friends at the pen (Just because it leaps into your head doesn't mean you have to DO it.) reminds me of some sage advice given to me years ago.
