The headline reads "Working Stiff, Weiner gets a new job."Leigh Lundinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07921276795499571578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-8212554145700718382015-07-23T20:00:24.802-04:002015-07-23T20:00:24.802-04:00Eve and R.T.–

You know, I...Eve and R.T.–

Thanks for commenting!

You know, I've been thinking since I posted this last night, and I can't escape the conclusion that I do in fact have sympathy for all involved, including any cheaters caught out by the self-righteous cyber-vigilantes who will mete out "justice" but not do so in the light of day.

In my mind, they're no better than those they are tormenting, with the exception of the folks who own Ashley Madison. Those bastards deserve every bit of pain they have coming as their stock collapses.

That said, having been guilty of jaw-dropping stupidity myself at various times in my life, I've got sympathy for fellow travelers along that road.

Brian
Brian Thorntonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14164348967846859987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-76765771776103275292015-07-23T12:49:57.140-04:002015-07-23T12:49:57.140-04:00Brian, and just this morning I rec'd an e-mail...Brian, and just this morning I rec'd an e-mail from the Federal Reserve Bank in conjunction with the United Nations that somehow they owed me 11 million dollars and all it would cost me was $250 to make the claim. I was reluctant because one method of payment to me was by cheque and I wasn't sure what a cheque was As an alternative, they would send me an ATM card I could use to draw out $5,000 a year, but I wasn't sure I would live that long. Uh, oh, I just remembered I wasn't supposed to tell anyone about this. I suppose now that means I won't get the 11 million dollars. Darn, I was so close to being rich.R.T. I've always said that you have to really water down truth in order to get believable fiction...

And the Ashley Madison stuff - I think the people who signed up for it did indeed believe they wouldn't get caught, even if they screwed around in the marital bed because nobody would ever leave any, er, TRACES behind, would they? Good old fashioned hubris. As a prisoner once said to me in the pen, "Wherever I go, I always know I'm the smartest guy in the room." Looking around, my reaction, "It's not a high bar."
