I get good feedback generally (though now that grades are going out, also getting questions, as you can imagine... referring back to the fact that being creative here doesn't let folks dodge showing solid work, getting their grammar right, etc.). Your creative writing assignment sounds a bit like the "alternate history" paper I required in World History - and my students loved it (even with all the press of assignments, etc. at the end of term). So eventually they have to learn what it should look like to make sure they get it right.
Art Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02409008167752619352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-30647824996220175872017-12-08T09:18:41.956-05:002017-12-08T09:18:41.956-05:00I'd like to read the Brexit story. Of the 75 students, two had read every story and novel in the canon before coming to class, and one person admitted she had no idea who Sherlock was—had just signed up because she needed the credit and it fit her schedule. Most folks, however, knew Sherlock only through the BBC series (or Robert Downey Jr. or Elementary). For them, this was the first chance to read any of the original tales--and glad to say they enjoyed!
Art Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02409008167752619352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-87253110000106592922017-12-08T08:29:31.963-05:002017-12-08T08:29:31.963-05:00Sounds like a great -- and fun -- class, Art.
