I think it's taught far too early -- at least in the Arizona school systems. <br /><br />They start harping on voice at the First-Grade level, here, because it's one of the quantifiers on the Arizona Instrumeent to Measure Success (AIMS) tests that kids have to pass in order to receive a high school diploma. <br /><br />Unfortunately, having 3 kids in the school system, at different levels and at different times -- I've yet to meet a public school teacher who can concisely define "voice" for me.
