No...I thought my loss of memory was due to old age. Now I know it is because I don’t need to remember phone numbers, directions, birthday, even names of friends and relatives. My computer does it for me. If technology keeps doing the thinking and remembering for us will our brain eventually atrophy! Yes, because the robots are coming, the robots are coming.

Good post Dale.Louis A. Commiserating, I mentioned that in younger years people kept introducing me as Dale Evans. "Who is that?" the young lawyer asked. Smiling, I replied, "Roy Roger's wife." "Who is that?" the young lawyer repeated.Dale Andrewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10553503281187956955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-50332450875923294652013-01-01T10:31:33.150-05:002013-01-01T10:31:33.150-05:00In retrospect, I'm so happy I spent only a few...In retrospect, I'm so happy I spent only a few hours trying before giving up on learning how to use a slide rule, now another obsolete device. My granddaughters have a hard time imagining a world without laptops, smartphones, and digital cameras, not to mention a world in which there were no women doctors, lawyers, or politicians and many dads never babysat, changed diapers, washed the dishes, or played with their daughters.Elizabeth Zelvinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13944424094949207841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-62111163741066357592013-01-01T09:59:36.265-05:002013-01-01T09:59:36.265-05:00My mother and I, before she died many years ago, u...My mother and I, before she died many years ago, used to sit and recite poetry to each other. She was blind by then, and couldn't read any more (she loved to read), but she had all these poems stored in her head from her childhood. That is passing. So is even the knowledge of how to learn and to memorize. (Hint: repetition really works.) Personally, I try to memorize a few verses, etc., every year, so that, if my eyesight ever vanishes or I'm sitting alone in my rocking chair (being to crabby to get near), I can recite to myself and wander down mental gardens...Eve Fisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03015761600962360110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-83855286221466470512013-01-01T09:06:07.493-05:002013-01-01T09:06:07.493-05:00Janice -- Point taken. Even in edited form it runs about 15 minutes to recite it. I can still do it from memory. My family tries to keep me away from Gettysburg just so they won't have to hear it (again)!Dale Andrewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10553503281187956955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-68277969543221512562013-01-01T08:49:38.681-05:002013-01-01T08:49:38.681-05:00Good piece!
