Thanks for the comments!

Janice, you'd like ASOT--it's available in several of the Bradbury anthologies. A great story. They also made a movie from it, but it's not (surprise, surprise) as good.

Steve, I agree, on 20th Century Ghosts--I have it right here on my shelf. And I liked everything about NOS4A2 except the last few pages. But what a novel that was! If you get a chance, try his collection of novellas, STRANGE WEATHER. Emphasis on the "strange."

O'Neil, you'd like his work. I had my reservations, figured he was coattailing, etc.--but he's an excellent writer.

Larry, Stephen King's output really is amazing. The man must do NOTHING but write.

Rob, Hill apparently really did try hard to conceal the fact that he's SK's son. But he not only looks like him, he writes like him as well.John Floydhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04001712728130488485noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-33203023583052208242019-11-03T10:38:35.577-05:002019-11-03T10:38:35.577-05:00At the World Science Fiction Conference in Dublin ...At the World Science Fiction Conference in Dublin this summer editor Ginjer Buchanan talked about going to a party a few years before and being introduced to "a new author, Joe Hill." After he left she asked her host "Are we supposed to pretend that we don't know that's Stephen King's son? Because that can ONLY be Stephen King's son."Robert Loprestihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08844889305615182897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-89804386526899199332019-11-02T16:05:28.162-04:002019-11-02T16:05:28.162-04:00A great intro to Joe Hill, John. I haven’t read him yet.
I guess you have to look to the pulp/men’s adventure novelists of the the 50s -early 80s to find authors more prolific than King. Kind of amazing.Lawrence Maddoxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03057386966178865691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-69279660641247944622019-11-02T09:33:14.558-04:002019-11-02T09:33:14.558-04:00John, read a lot of King's short stories and a...John, read a lot of King's short stories and a few novels. I was astounded at the range and depth of the short stories, everything from hardcore grue to wistful. I started tracking down his other work immediately.

I loved The Fireman, too, along with Horns, Heart-Shaped Box and Nos4a2. If I have a favorite, it might be the last one.Steve Liskowhttp://www.steveliskow.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-88949756316518896822019-11-02T07:41:52.400-04:002019-11-02T07:41:52.400-04:00I want to read Bradbury's The Sound of Thunder...I want to read Bradbury's The Sound of Thunder- how did I miss that!janice lawnoreply@blogger.com
