I'm always hoping an archeologist somewhere is going to make a find that proves KA was based on something real. Not my favorite, but some of that may be that I don't really like Thomas Berger's writing style. (It happens.)
Curmudgeon, I agree, Buffy was great.
Leigh, yeah - the Arthurian tales have their own complete soundtrack, from opera to medieval music. And the sub-plots and spin-off possibilities. You have the Grail, Tristan and Iseult, The Questing Beast, Lancelot and Guinevere, Arthur and his half-sisters (complete with Game of Thrones-style incest), Enid and Geriant, etc., etc., etc.

Eve Fisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03015761600962360110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-70970638471839343022019-04-11T13:58:17.459-04:002019-04-11T13:58:17.459-04:00Marvel had a show about another superhero, Daredev...Marvel had a show about another superhero, Daredevil, on Netflix for three seasons & cancelled it even though it was incredibly popular. Disney, Marvel, & Netflix all seemed to have some equity in the show or thought they did, & couldn't agree. There is talk of rebooting it but I only want to watch if it's the same actors & writers. ?Elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00239163766419735693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-91310875546475263822019-04-11T10:45:47.131-04:002019-04-11T10:45:47.131-04:00Buffy! And I love the Cloisters, my favorite place in NYC. The Rochester site is great. Thanks, Eve.

You already know this, Eve, but another point of comparison is that Arthurian legends come with their own soundtracks. I'm thinking in particular of Wagnerian operas– Tristan und Isolde, Lohengrin, and Parsifal, that innocent knight errant. I would like to think some of the more interesting performances made the transition from video tape to Blu-Ray. Modern composers also have turned their attention to the legends, but I'm unfamiliar with them. The title of one strikes me– Knight Crew.

When I was a kid, I found the contradictions in various retellings confusing– Morgan good, Morgan bad; Merlin good; Merlin bad. Damn it, pick one story line and stick with it! Don't confuse the proletariat. You wanna change the story, introduce your own characters. And screw you, Lancelot. You let your king and me down.

While I'm complaining, I learned a lesson from the first Fantastic Four film. It's not interesting or fair if your heroes outnumber their opponent 4-to-1. Borrow some bad guys from Batman, for pity's sake.
Leigh Lundinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07921276795499571578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-23093462729295864832019-04-11T10:33:23.533-04:002019-04-11T10:33:23.533-04:00Very interesting.
