I have heard them say that nothing can be considered archivally secure if it is more sophisticated technologically that microfilm. Worse case scenario you can look at microfilm with a magnifying glass and sunlight. Back at the start of the home computer era the National Archives bought every word processing program that came out bcause they assumed that no matter how bad and obscure SOME government agency would decide to use it and they needed the ability to save it. Interestingly, the Trump administration is currently trying to close down the Seattle branch of the National Archives where material about this part of the country (including Native American tribes) is kept. Oh, for you people not in the biz: the difference between a library and an archives: An archives keeps the only (or official) copy of publications.Robert Loprestihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08844889305615182897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-81960145187762990012021-01-06T14:02:17.766-05:002021-01-06T14:02:17.766-05:00Thanks; this is an extraordinarily valuable piece ...Thanks; this is an extraordinarily valuable piece of information us all to have.Don Coffinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07198988872512792834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-9055748533867507622021-01-06T12:17:15.253-05:002021-01-06T12:17:15.253-05:00Well, that goes on my list of fires to weep over, ...Well, that goes on my list of fires to weep over, beginning, of course, with the burning of the Library of Alexandria...Eve Fisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03015761600962360110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-5955169867742256942021-01-06T07:35:20.496-05:002021-01-06T07:35:20.496-05:00Another lamentable moment in the history of record...Another lamentable moment in the history of records and libraries. Sarbanes–Oxley (Sox) set standards for corporations, but what is the federal approach to our records?Leigh Lundinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07921276795499571578noreply@blogger.com
