I liked INSPECTOR MORSE (Thaw was a revelation, but the production feels at times dated now), *loved* LEWIS (still holding out hope for a HATHAWAY series) and although I enjoyed ENDEAVOUR at first, I lost interest after the first couple of seasons as it continued to grow every more unrelentingly GRIM, with no let up. And like Eve, we know how it ends. And when we know it doesn't end well, why stick with it? Style points?Brian Thorntonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14164348967846859987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-37657628569689210672021-10-13T21:54:55.038-04:002021-10-13T21:54:55.038-04:00Interesting. But I lost interest in young Morse too, and I think I know why: We know how it ends.

You used the words 'star-crossed', which puts it mildly. We know Morse met a bleak end, about as desolate, dismal, and depressing as end of life can get. It took a while, but I wanted less because I knew too much.

I've lived and worked in Europe, and peoples have national personalities. French think along the lines that life can be tough, but enjoy what you can. The British are more like life sucks and then you die. That attitude definitely leaked through the screen to me.Leigh Lundinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07921276795499571578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3119105822589181967.post-40012662663825494212021-10-13T13:50:36.502-04:002021-10-13T13:50:36.502-04:00I agree, David. I, too, loved Morse, and liked Lewis. Not interested in Endeavor.
